Looks like at least one of our Virginia boys can still hold his own with the top ranked anglers in the country.

I watched the Bracket Tournament on Live this past week and learned a lot from watching and listening to the eight anglers who fished it. Each of them had different strategies and techniques and were not against sharing them with the fans.

I was in tune with Avena and his bridge, as it fits my style on some of the lakes in Virginia where bridges are the go-to places to catch bass. Jacob Powroznik piqued my interest in that he used a variety of baits and techniques to outfish his opponents.

And to catch a fish with a cull tag still in it's mouth was something I had never seen before. I have caught a fish with a jerkbait in it's mouth and my partner caught a fish with six Senkos in it's mouth. None of the baits had hooks in them except the one on the end of his line. In addition, the tail of a four inch shad was sticking out of the fish's throat. Evidently, this fish was the designated garbage collector.
