Fear and Greed

Till a few weeks ago I believed that the ammo shortage was caused by restocking of military ammo used up in the last wars. We used an incredible amount of ammo and had to procure overseas for a time. It is good to use up ammo and stockpile fresh for the next war. Well, the stocks are refeshed and full for the next conflict. The manufacturing cost of ammunition has remained about the same for many years because the components are cheap and readily available. So, what is driving up the cost of ammunition? Greed on the part of the manufacturer and distributors as they feed on the fear of the US population. People are afraid--of burglers, terrorists, gun and ammo controls---even that the 2nd amendment may be changed. The people want weapons and the ammo to use them. I attended a breifing recently where militias were discussed as a possible threat to the gov't. It hasn't gone unnoticed that militias are buying up serious amounts of weapons and ammunition. Militias are a chief hoarder of ammunition. They are constantly buying and are backed by people with deep pockets. We are talking a serious amount of weapons and ammo. Personally, I don't want to be around these folks and question their need for continued buying. The Covenant, Sword and Arm of the Lord is definitely not on my charitable donation list. Fear is driving the population to buy ammo and greed is driving up the price. So much for capitalism.
