surf fishing

Well, I always wanted to do a little surf fishing and finally had a chance to get it done on vacation in Cabo. What a workout for the old shoulders. I put together a 12' Penn Battalion rod, Akuma Azores spinning reel, 50 lb Power Pro braid and a 60 lb fluoro leader and it worked well, but maybe a bit heavier than I needed. Sailing a 4 ounce weight all morning as far as you can pitch it will definitely test your muscles, and mine ached for a bit. Caught Dorado, jacks, bonito and needlefish. Lots of whales and dolphin around when we took a charter out.

Ate a lot of Mahi Mahi while we were there and brought about 30 lbs of it home.
