Bad - good luck

  1. Last year at Hartwell we broke the cables on the Motor Guide. We ran around that Sat and found a set and got back to fishing. The shaft had been bent for a while, so we took it to the local repair shop for repair. While there he made us a deal on a Maxxum. We have liked it far better than the old MG

Over the last few times out, we noticed the direction indicator would pop up and loose it's position. Today I pulled it out on the lake and saw one of the latching arms broken off. No big deal, we'll just pick up a new indicator. When we got back, I pulled it out and when I looked down in there, I noticed a metal bracket right where the indicator runs. So I tore it apart and found the plastic housing that holds the steer cable bracket had busted. 3 of the 4 threaded plastic studs (molded in the housing were broken off and had caused the bracket to lift and hit the indicator.

Bad news, but it's a lot better than if that last stud would have broken next weekend at Hartwell. So it's off to the repair shop to see if he has a lower cover. If not, I guess it'll be ordered next day air.

There has got to be a better design to be made for a slow controlled travel of a bass boat. I'm still waiting on my TN engineer to figure one out
