The Truth, the Whole Truth, and Nothing but the Truth…

Well, we are a couple months into this “experiment” with me at the helm of Concealed Carry Magazine and I think it is going very well. We are expanding and growing on all fronts while we maintain the goal of providing the best-damned information we can provide to you, the reader. If we drift from that goal, I expect you to provide what my father might have referred to a “course correction.” I respectfully just request you folks don’t use the belt.
The Mayan apocalypse and Christmas are old news, and they have now been replaced with the promising resolutions of a New Year. Promises to lose weight (and keep it off), walk the dog more often, take your significant other out on more dates for overpriced dinners and passionate kisses at midnight, etc. Whatever makes your ball drop; I respect your freedom to chase your dream.
As for me, I have a mission in 2013. It’s a simple mission, but it requires your help. I want to see the number of well-informed concealed carry advocates continue to grow. My part of the mission is to track down the best information from top-notch writers. I need to edit that information into smooth and readable text, seek out amazing and exciting photos and present everything in a bold and innovative package. Sorry, I got a little “Star Trek” there. I’ll try to contain that.
But your part of the mission is to help out. Like I’ve said before, we are all in this together. Each of us is an advocate for the rights we hold dear. Each of us has a responsibility to spread the word, inform the masses, and be the best representative of our rights that we can be. So, I’m asking you to forward this report. Send it to members of your gun club, your fantasy football league, your church group and your PTA. The more accurate information we get in the hands of honest citizens, the easier it will be to combat some of the crap being spewed by anti-gun zealots bent on stealing our rights.
Right now, today, people like Michael Bloomberg and Sarah Brady are doing whatever they can to restrict the rights of gun owners. They don’t care what facts they have to twist, what principles they have to abandon, or what common sense they have to ignore in order to trample the rights of others. There is only one way to combat such people: Every time they tell a lie, we have to respond with the truth. The trouble is, they keep telling the same lies over and over again to millions of people. Some of those poor souls end up believing what the hater’s spew. That is where we come in. Our job is to tell the truth. Now I’m asking you to repeat that truth over and over again in an effort to undo some of the damage that has already been done.
If you are going to make a New Year’s resolution this year, forget about trying to eat right and lose 10 pounds. Instead, resolve to spend more time at the range and pass along this Concealed Carry Report to a couple friends every week. If you sent this report to three people and each of them sent it to three people and so on that would be, um, six plus the other six, carry the three, plus the first three and…well, I’m a writer, not a mathematician, but I can still say with certainty that it winds up being a helluva lot of people.
The beauty of this is that we are standing behind the truth; not some crazy, emotional argument blaming the actions of a few idiots on the tools those idiots used to carry out their particular crimes.
So now that the ball has dropped and you’ve kissed who ever it is you might kiss on New Year’s Eve, think about how you are going to preserve gun rights for future generations. It starts by telling the truth today, and refusing to allow those who would lie about us to do so unchallenged.
Nobody else will do it for us.
