Combo grill / smoker

    Well, it looks like my gas grill crapped out on me. I looked at the Big Green Egg, but since I'm not a poor ole mainer, I'll have to go the cheaper route.

    A new sporting goods scratch and dent type store opened up near the house a few months ago. I went a couple of weeks ago looking for a tent and sleeping bag stuff. They had this combination gas / charcoal / wood grill in the front of the store.

    It has a searing burner on the far left, propane grill, charcoal (with adjustable pan height), and then a fire box to use the right side as an indirect heat smoker. Gander Mtn and Sam's Club sells the grill for $450 (boxed). The store had a tag on it of $200 (assembled). Everything I looked at that day, they would drop the price on without me asking. Think I'll stop by one day this week to see if they still have any.

    I like my charcoal grill, but like the convenience of everyday cooking on the propane. And most of our smoking is on a small scale nowadays, so this could be perfect.
