Homeland Security

What an albatross this is. It was created to calm the country's nerves and show that the gov't was heavily involved in stopping terrorism threats. Lots of agencies such as the FBI were grouped with DOD components like the Coast Guard. None of the existing agencies wanted this overarching entity to come into being. When it did, a lot of agencies sent thier worst managers and most inefficient personnel to staff it. It started as a dumping ground and not only hasn't improved but has gotten worse. It needs to have stake driven through it's heart and the whole process restarted and staffed correctly. I could write more but it would only start sounding the same. Dept. of Education is a model of efficiency compared to Homeland Security.
