Nam Vets

I hope you younger members understand that we Nam vets served, got shot at, wounded, etc., and when we got home we got no respect for our service. Over 40 years have passed and that still colors our view of war, politics and the world in general. We grew up watching WWII films and documentaries and John Wayne was a hero. A completely different perspective then a lot of the views today. What we learned from a war that we fought without the full support of the citizens is this: war is a serious business and set the rules so we can win; Robert McNamara showed us that HOW strategy is determined is best left to the professional military; politicians shouldn't be in a war zone; and finally--it is hard to fight when the war is being volleyballed between political parties. Few Nam vets went into federal gov't after their service. Through all this time, we still love our country, the troops, the american people. We just look at things differently then most today. Bill is dead on when he said we are old school. I guess we saw too many John Wayne movies growing up.
