Need input on family problem

    My son a Sr in high school got in trouble last week at school. First time he has ever had a problem there. He got sucker punched by his ex girl friend who got in 8 or 9 shots plus used her finger nails on his ear and neck. Did this in class they share. Drew blood. For his part he got 2 days ISS. He did not hit her and left as soon as he could. So today he does his fisrt day of ISS no big deal. For her part my son could have and still can press charges on her. Police were called and report filed for her actions. She got half a day out of school and 5 days ISS. Today we find out her Mom isn't sending her back to school till she doesn't have to do ISS. This is BS in my book if she had been a boy, one punch 10 days out of school. My questions should we go ahead and press charges or walk away after he finishs his ISS. Just a messed up deal but I am proud of my son for doing the right thing no matter how hard it was...... he didn't hit her.I think she needs to learn she can't just do anything she wants and get away with it. Thoughts..
