I took the 1898 Krag fully apart to clean and repair. Even with schematic and full smithing tools I can't get the firing pin back in place. Everything was easily taken apart and has gone back together except the firing pin into the bolt. There wasn't any problem taking the bolt apart. Firing pin looks good. Any expertise here?

The rifle was a little rough looking when I bought it. A light sanding with steel wool to the stock then four coats of tung oil. A disassembly of the bolt, trigger, reciever, etc. and soaking in a preservative oil. Clean up after soaking, barrel check, and assembly. This weapon has been sportstered but looks almost new after cleanup and maintainance---now have to get the blankety blank bolt reassembled. By the way this a 30-40.
