Years ago, before LOZman and everyone else discovered sissy baits, we fished with some huge baits and weird combinations. Today I went old school. I looked for a dark football jig with the longest strands I could find. I found a junebug color jig that you would normally cut off about 2.5 inches of strand. For a trailer I used a 12 in. junebug colored swimming tail worm. This jig is enormous. First cast in 20 ft. got a chomp on the jig. A 15.5 inch bass. 2nd cast, a 16 incher. So on and so on. I caught 12 keepers in the 1.5 hrs I fished after having breakfast. All 15-16 inch bass. You could have taken every bass I landed this week and stamped them from a cookie cutter. Nothing I landed was over 3 lbs. Anyway, I finally lost the jig when a bass wrapped around a deep cable. Goes to show that bigger is sometimes better.
