To go along with the hair jig thread; simple, basic lures still catch a lot of fish. I swim 4 in. finesse worms around docks and breakwaters and grubs for swimming along the bottom. Some of the easiest techniques in fishing. I will catch hundreds of bass each year using these lures. All sizes from peanut bass to 7 lbs. During the dog days, this is a great way to catch them. It is simple. You can take a friend who doesn't fish, use these lures, and he will catch a bunch. Some other basic, inexpensive lures such as hair jigs and small spoons will catch a lot of fish. Try some old time basic lures and simple techniques and you will find they still work well today.
