Sorta Rant

First off i hope i am not offending anyone here.
Ok so here is the deal. I had decided to go to a non denomination church with some of my family. My girlfriend and her parents are a die hard southern baptist. They called me saturday night to tell me what time we were going to the baptist church. I told them i was going to this church with some of my family. they said as long as you are in church that is ok. (Im not the one who goes every sunday or every other sunday and i take religion critism very hard). So the gf calls me back and tells me she does not want me going to that church for the way they believe and her mom gets on and states her opinion on it. What makes me mad is how They think that the "Baptist" is the only way to the Holy Gates. And the fact that when they say this that they are talking about my families beliefs. (Again i am not trying to offend anyone here on there beliefs.) Yes i know that this church is a different style of church but they read from the same Bible and Bible scripture as a Baptist church does. And even the Pastor is a Southern Baptist. So both of the families had a few words to one another and the first thing that sunday morning that the preacher said was this, "It doesnt matter what church you go to, Baptist, Methodist, Pentacostal, Catholic, etc., it is all based on the same God. Each one is still talking about the same God. They might put it in different examples but there is still only one God that you serve. And that God doesnt judge you on what "labeled" church you go to."
I just thought this was kind of ironic. Me and her are no longer affiliated anymore.
Do you think i went a liltle over board on this? Do you think they were wrong on telling me that this church beliefs are wrong?
And one more time i am not trying to offend anyone in this matter and i know that this is a very delicate matter and i am just a little bit thrown away by it.
