Stan (the man) Musial

    just got the presidential medal. I know a lot of folks here don't know much about Stan--mostly because he played in the midwest. He was one of the greatest players of all time. If he had been on the east coast he would have rivaled Ruth, Williams, etc. Here in St. Louis, he is the most revered player for the Cardinals. He is also one of the nicest and respectful people you could meet. I have several autographed balls from Stan. One of the balls was a home run I caught as a kid and he signed after the game. He never turned down a kid looking for an autograph--unlike today's players. He still has numerous major league records 50 years after he retired and was voted one of the greatest players of the last century.

    The record I like the most is 24 times an all-star. I was at the all-star game in St. Louis. Most of the players didn't know of him. You should have seen the faces and comments of the American League players when they said he was a 24 time all-star.
