Still getting used to the Puma. The lake was calm yesterday morning so I went WOT. The boat runs flat at almost full up trim and touched 77 mph. The speedo stayed between 75-77 for the 3 miles I kept her opened up. Moderate chop was no problem at WOT. Later I took some 3 ft. cruiser wakes at 60 mph and didn't even feel anything. This boat treats your bottom like you are sitting on a pillow. Spring loaded seats with adjustable lumbar supports are great. The accelleration with a 225 Opti is really something and a 250 would be awesome. I think the boat would break 80 mph with a 250.

The fishing postion is farther to the front than I am used to. I feel like I am overhanging the front of the boat. Something I will get used to and if you are fishing shallow and flipping lures, it would be an advantage. My old PII had 4 in. gunnels up front and I never feared I would lose a rod. The Puma's gunnels are .5 to 1 in. and I almost kicked a rod overboard. Again, something to get used to. The boat has rod strap downs and I hate them. Because of the cruisers, you have to be able to tie your equipment down in a hurry. I will uninstall the straps and install bungy cord tiedowns. It only takes a second to tie down rods with a bungy.

A few minor things for me to fix but overall a great ride and I am happy with it. The Champion 198 rides very much like the Puma. Center, underseat gas tank, and a flat ride. For a guy who always drove nose up, it still feels funny to me and I feel I should be trimmed higher even though I know I am trimmed correctly.
