The reason for the "Own up" thread

A very close friend died recently who had been director of one of the smaller intel agencies. I didn't work at that agency and we both needed someone to talk to and bounce ideas off of. We only talked once on this topic and I brought up the incident in the "Own up" thread. He had seen the siphoned off footage and said several other agency heads had as well. I put him on the spot and said " we have been friends for a long time. Is this one of our craft or an enemy craft". He said he couldn't talk about the subject but hoped that a decision maker would soon talk to the citizens of the country. Thirteen years later I am still waiting for that speech. Over the years I heard stories from pilots, navigators, even an admiral about objects they had seen in their careers. NONE would officially put in an action report on what took place as it would be a career killer. Every time I think of my friend this subject pops into my mind. And no, when the proof of what we saw in Afganistan disappeared, no one on the team filed a report. Since I know we are a bunch of crazy people on here I decided to relate one more crazy story.
