Think about Ammo

A group of oldsters gather at the range an hour before it officially opens on Tuesdays. The owners set out coffee cake and coffee for us and let us shoot early. The rest of the morning we chat in the member's lounge. Everyone is CCW and most are retired LEOs or Feds. One of the members said he had purchased a new .40 to carry. The subject of ammo came up and the majority view was interesting. Almost everyone carried 9 mm or .45 calibers. The main reason was availablity of ammo. In the case of calamity, it is much easier to scrounge the most common calibers. Ammo such as .380, .40, .44, .357 may become hard to find. If, in the future, a President should cut down on available ammo, 9mm and .45 would be the easist to find. Something to think about when you puchase a carry weapon.

Interesting facts: the retired LEOs carried mainly 9mm with the oldest in the group carrying .38; the retired Feds ( FBI,CIA, NSA, Homeland Security) carried .45 exclusively. I was the only person who sometimes carried a .380.
