A lot of us carry expensive weapons for CCW. My Kimber Tactical Ultra was about $1200 when purchased 4 yrs. ago. Remember that if you have to use the weapon, the LEOs will take it as evidence. The fact is: you will probably never get it back. So, why carry an expensive weapon if you can find a good inexpensive one. I am thinking of buying the Bersa Thunder .45. I have fired it several times recently and at 15 yrds., it does a fine job. Most self defense shooting is at 7 yrds, or less. The Bersa Thunder .45 costs $425, will do the job, and won't break you if taken away.

When I said this at the range, the response was: so your liife is only worth $400. My answer is: if the weaponis accurate, will always fire, and will do the job, who cares if it is only $400. The dead guy certainly isn't going to complain. For you folks who know me, if I draw and fire, someone will die, for I know of no other way to do it. I will pull the trigger until they drop. Two shots or six----you fire till they go down. If you can't do that,, then don't carry a damn weapon.
