Where were you on 9/11?

Let's tell our experiences today. It helps to remind us of what we are defending.

I was sitting at my desk at the agency. My television was mounted above my desk and turned to CNN (agency policy). I saw the first plane hit the tower and heard a large commotion outside my office. My group (about 120 folks) were looking at their sets and speculating who did it. The initial talk was the Russians or Chinese and would the retaliation be immediate. Before long, we decided it was terrorism. People were truly pissed and ready to do something. The anger continued to build as the second tower was hit. When the aircraft were grounded, we all went out to the parade ground and looked at the sky. We were normally in a busy flightpath with 5-10 craft always in sight. To see nothing in the air was almost unreal. We immediately returned to work and as soon leads appeared we suspected bin laden's group. As the planning for retaliation took place, many in my group, myself included, were tasked to hunt for usable caves in the mountains of Afganistan. Many of the thermobaric bombs you saw dropped on caves in Afganistan were pinpointed by my folks. I did not considered the war won until we got bin laden. I am a happier man today knowing he sleeps with the fishes. atriot:
