Windy flats

    OK, I need some clarification or advice. Saturday the wind was blowing pretty good, so I thought that would be a good time to slow roll a SB on a windy flat, since I've never done that. We went to a place along the main body of the lake, where there is rip rap on the bank and the depth is about 8' out to about 25 yds away from the bank. We got nothing,........................... Right beside this flat was a little pocket or cove with lots of drifted wood under the surface, but the wind was partially blocked off. The depth is between 2 to 6' .We troll over there and start with the Alchi stick shakey heads. We catch 5 keepers within an hour.

    So, breakdown this scenario and tell me what was going on and why the fish were out of the wind.I thought this would have been the perfect conditions for a slow roll. Surface temp was 82 and very slightly stained
