Doc weighs in - long rant

Hi guys...it's Doc. I had to beg Andrew to let me on the board under his name. He refuses to approve me as a member, because he knows I would irritate people with my strong opinions (I have been DYING to post about the NFL and college football and basketball, 'cause clearly some of y'all have NO idea what you're talking about - LOL!), and he doesn't want to alienate people and lose members. Like all wives, I have let him think that he is in charge of this thing :Rolling:, but as co-owner and chief financial officer of this gig, I told him I'm weighing in on what has been going on for the last couple of days.

Andrew has been very invested in this site being a member-friendly place; he doesn't want to censor and he doesn't want to scold. (As a veteran teacher and college professor, I have no such problems doing either of those, but that is beside the point.) I am all about the "boys will be boys" thing, and I love listening to all the smack talk between y'all. I don't even mind a "hottie of the week" picture. However, this site is going to be a classy one. I appreciate that Andrew has enough respect for me (and your wives who might be passing by the computer while you are on there) to back me up on the suggestion that 50-some pictures of nearly naked women in semi-erotic poses are inappropriate for this site. There are sites which would welcome such; this is not one of them.

I am so supportive of Andrew's vision for this site - that it be a fun place for folks to go to talk about fishing and boats and politics and whatever else you guys talk about. I think the exchange of ideas and information in your discussions are wonderful (for the most part; some of that stuff is beyond me - I don't know crap about boats and fishing). As a result, I don't think at this time, that it is necessary to post a "Forum Rules" list; that is so 2nd grade (which I DID teach at one time, so I COULD do a rules list). I am respectfully asking that you consider the audience who might be viewing the forum before you post. If in doubt, think: What would my wife/mother/daughter think of this?

I appreciate Andrew letting me post under his name, knowing that he is probably going to take heat for it. I'd appreciate that any heat from this thread be directed to me; I'd be glad to engage in a lively discussion. :danceing:
