False Spawn

I was worried that this would happen at LOZ this year. I have only seen it a couple of times.

If the weather suddenly heats up too soon and warms the lake, the fish will develope their eggs for the spawn. If the warm weather was only for a couple of weeks and the cold returned for a long period, the fish will re-absorb the eggs into their body and not produce them again at the proper time. A false spawn can really hurt a year class of bass and crappie. This only seems to happen in a narrow band of lakes in the middle of the country.

I was told the fish are getting full of eggs and it will be a normal year.
