Govt employess step into my office pls.

    So here is my quandry, I am a GS8, applied for a position that is a GS7/9. I applied for for grades, I was told that i didnt meet minimum qualifications for the 9 last week, today I get an email that says Im qualified for the GS7. If I took the job it would be a huge pay cut, including approx. $10K in night/holiday differential, for me and the wife, but I would get the 9 in about a year. So if by chance Im offered the GS7, should I take it or pass.

    Now I have been trying to get to this particular office for approx. 5-6 yrs now. This is the first application in about 3-4 yrs that was actually passed to the office. I know this would be a foot in the door for me into the office and the hardship of the pay cut would only be about a year, but do I accept the position or turn it down should I be offered it or do I turn it down and hope another position opens up sooner than later.
