Not every one is a defect.

I have always had a small problem when folks bring in broken rods. I have toured the Falcon plant and the AllStar plants where they make them and got some great backgrounds on how they are made and such. Even in the realm of knowing the differences in breakages. What constitutes a break and why. For example...If the tip is broken in the first 7 inches, then it is not a defect, it is user error. If it is broken in the middle, user error. Only time it can be truly a defective rod is in the first 30%, i.e. around the 4 th or 5th line guide from the tip OR it breaks in the 80% range, i.e. between the handle and 1st line guide.

I know retail places like Bass Pro, Cabelas, Wal-Mart and Academy et al. want to please and keep customers and all, especially in an economy like this one, but giving folks a free rod everytime a little break occurs, we are just losing money. Altho it doesn't happen alot except around holiday wknds in the summer and the beginning of the season when everyone(folks not like us) drags out their rigs to fish only when its warm, but c'mon!!! Not every rod is a defect! :Mad: And I know very few rod companies have a Lifetime policy, so they cannot all say that to us. Just pisses me off that we HAVE to take care of them when we know its the customers fault that the rod broke, not always, but still. Just wish some fisherman would own up to their sense of reason and realize they may be SOL sometimes.
