Tips for Kentucky Lake Fall fishing around Paris, TN

The lake fishes like a river system and is usually clear to slightly stained at this time. Heavy rains can muddy it quickly. Depending on the transition the bass are in 14-17 ft. on large flats and humps prior to and 5-11 ft. after on rock and grassbeds. This is one of the few lakes where I use cranks. Chrome/blue rattletraps, tennessee shad, brown/chartruese wide wobbling cranks and even rouges. Spinnerbaits in translucent skirt if clear water and something with chartruese if stained. I did well in a tourney pitching a jig around shallow rock and grass. I didn't swim a jig back then but would try it now. Dull colors like black, brown--natural colors in a pitching jig and shad color in a simming jig. Most of these areas are number bites. If you need big fish move to main lake ledges. If you can find one with a feeding flat adjacent to it you'll have a honey hole for the tourney as it tends to reload with big fish each day. My favorite is a 3/4 oz. football jig but the locals c-rig in those areas.
