Tips for shallow LOZ bass

I'm a deep water fisherman but will sometimes go shallow around docks. Here are a couple of things I have found for shallow fish on most any lake devoid of natural cover. Dock fishing of course is the main pattern on LOZ and there are thousands of them.

1) Swimming a jig along the dock floats and ocassionally letting it fall just below the float. The bass wonder what they saw and will look for it again. Sometimes you need several pitches and retrieves to the same side of the docks to get a bite. Keep the jig mostly above the bottom of the float. The bite comes on those ocassional drops below the float.

2) A small diving jerkbait worked the same as above. This tactic has worked anywhere in the country I have fished during the summer. It worked particularly well in extremely hot water in the south. I think the southern lads put the jerkbait away after winter. G-ville is a good place to try this, AC.
