Deadstick Tactic

    I was fishing for bass from my dock when on a cast, I hit a dock support. My jig went about 20 ft. and I was left with the "bird's nest" of a lifetime. The lure settled to the lake bottom in 3 ft. of water and I attempted to clear the nest. After about 10 min., I had 30 ft. of loose line on the dock floor or in the water. I glanced at the water and my jig and line is moving sideways quickly. I couldn't retrieve line because of the nest. I had long nose pliers in my hand and wound the line around the pliers several times and gave a big yank on the pliers. As I used the pliers as a reel, I'm waiting for the line to break. When I got the bass on the dock, he was 21-22 inches long. No camera with me or phone. That is a PB for me hand lining a bass. The ultimate deadstick because the jig sat on the bottom for 10 min. before the bass picked it up.
    I wish I had a camera to take a photo of the bird's nest. It was world class and it took 15 min. of scissor and knife time to cut it away.
