Electric boating

I've been googling and searching for what's happening with the idea of electric boats

This is about all I can find , beyond the Torqueedo small outboards . This boat is being promoted as a " speed boat " . The range is impressive, but that is at " cruising speed ", whatever that may be , which is most likely a lot less than its top speed of 35 mph.

I think the problem with an electric boat that would perform anywhere near an internal combustion gasoline powered outboard, is the weight of the battery and the space needed for a battery.

There's a concept called " energy density " . Which is basically, how much energy can a size unit of a particulare type of fuel produce. There's nothing that competes with fossil fuels outside of nuclear. We have never transitioned from one fuel to another, where energy density was increased. Boating needs a lot of energy from a small space that's as light as possible. Which is why nuclear adapted so well to submarines and aircraft carriers.
