It's football jig time on LOZ. From now through early November the lure for big bass is a football jig. I use them on two types of structure. Bluff ledges and long sloping points. At the moment, bass are not using bluff ends but are located towards the middle of the bluff line. Anything that breaks the bluff front can hold bass. Large crevices, small drains, rock falls, etc. create a spot for bass. If a ledge is nearby, even better. The bass are tight to the ledge and are taking a stroked football jig at 15-20 ft. On long sloping points, bass are from 15-25 ft. and using the bottom just before the drop. A few bass are suspended over the drop and about 2 ft. below the lip of the drop. In late September, good bass will be on points which have a deep flat nearby. The bass school and push bait against the point much as bass push bait on the surface. You can see the activity on your finder.
